Three fully paid trips to dOCUMENTA (13) and Art Basel

For members of the Creative Caribbean Network, courtesy of PUMA.Creative

To celebrate the third anniversary of the Creative Art Network we are offering three fully paid trips to dOCUMENTA (13) and Art Basel.

Open to one member of each Creative Art Network, these trips will take place from 14 - 20 June, 2012 and will include: Transportation from your home town to Switzerland, then Germany and back home; 4 days (3 nights accommodation) in Basel, Switzerland; 3 days (2 nights accommodation) in Kassel, Germany; Welcome dinner with PUMA.Creative Chief Curator Mark Coetzee; Tickets to dOCUMENTA (13) and Art Basel.

    Art Basel takes place in Halls 1 and 2 of Messe Basel, Messeplatz, 4005 Basel, Switzerland. Hall 1: Built in 1999 by the Swiss architect and art collector Theo Hotz, this hall hosts Art Unlimited, Art Statements, Art Basel Conversations, Art Salon. Hall 2: A landmark building from the 1950s, built by Hans Hoffmann, the building hosts Art Galleries, Art Feature, Art Edition and Art Magazines.

This is our way of saying thank you to all the members who have dedicated countless hours writing articles, creating events, proposing opportunities and posting their favourite books to the Creative Caribbean Network.

The first Creative Art Network website, the Creative Africa Network, launched in April 2009 in Johannesburg, South Africa. In December 2010 the Creative Caribbean Network rolled out in Miami, USA. The latest addition, the Creative South America Network, is now live with membership building and a formal launch is coming soon.

dOCUMENTA (13) is an arts event lasting 100 days and takes place every 5 years in Kassel, Germany with satellite events taking place around the world. Through visual art exhibitions and theatre, dance and music based performances, dOCUMENTA (13) provides a broad overview of the current trends in international cultural practice. These practices are then learned about, debated and questioned in a range of panel discussions, professional debates and public lectures running concurrent to the main programming.

Art Basel is the world’s foremost commercial art fair, takes place in Basel, Switzerland each year. The leading art dealers, collectors, artists and curators congregate in Basel to buy, sell and discuss the role of the collecting in modern and contemporary art.

    CAMARIAH'S WAY -A Great Amazement Multimedia & Entertainment Production, Written & Directed by Craig "Amaziyah The Great Kirkland, Special Guest Appearance by Rootz Underground Band The theme of this amazing film is "Freedom & Independence" and Amaziyah has as usual outdone himself in production and cast selection. Camariah is played by amateur drama student Shanna-Gaye Wheatley who shows much potential as she plays a young girl who emotionally abused in the family home leaves to fulfill her aspirations abroad, its a fabulous story and bears an element of "real life " in its story line... Camariah makes it and still takes care of the family that treated her so badly back home.. Its about humility and resilience about the hypocrisy of some who use those that care for them draining them of self esteem and hope.. Amaziyah The Great has outdone himself with this particular script using what he knows / understands of life to pen a hard hitting script

If we win we will make a documentary of the experience and broadcast it on our network. We would create a discussion on the discourse which documenta will open and how that relates to the Caribbean. It would be interesting to find out how more Caribbean artist can participate in Documenta not just as viewers but as active participants. It would be a good idea, that even if we don't win, that if anyone is thinking of going maybe through this channel we can travel together. So I put it that if anyone is planning to go or would like to go to let me know because a group would be great. This grand tour which would include Kasel, Basel and should include Berlin because they will bring out the best of the collections is an incredible trip. Please contact me if you are interested.

I studied at the ecole des Beauz art de Geneve in the Seventies and visited the Art Basel on more than one occassion. it would be so fantastic to be able visit the show again after so many years -it is such an incredible event.
