An International Cultural Exchange with artists from the Diaspora
The 13th International Cultural Exchange for artists from the Diaspora took place at the Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico in March 2010. Over 20 artists representing the Caribbean diaspora participated in an amazing exhibition and conference over 5 days, connnecting and interacting with local and international artists and scholars. Artists came from Jamaica, St.Maarten, Cuba, Venezuela, Columbia, New York, London, Miami, Texas, Puerto Rico to exchange ideas, discuss thier works, and take advantage of opportunities to make valuable links.

Rosie Gordon-Wallace curator of Diasporavibe Gallery in Miami, and Nitza Luna, Professor at Sacred Heart University in Puerto Rico, were the organizers and hosts of this conference

Carlos has been crocheting this work with yarn donated from Cuban nationals. It is now 9 miles long.

A visit to the National Museum in San Juan. The building used to be a hospital, but was converted into a beautiful museum housing important historical and contemporary Puerto Rican art.
