CAG[e] Gallery

The CAG[e] Gallery positions itself as an outlet for contemporary visual expressions that are created by students, members of faculty, international artists and 'friends' of the Edna Manley College.

The CAG[e] Gallery is the art gallery of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica. The gallery seeks to present a varied and challenging exhibition programme that provokes discussion about past and current directions in Caribbean art and culture, while in the same breadth, actively promote avant garde (as well as "traditional") ideas in contemporary Jamaican visual art.

It provides exposure; the work’s of faculty, alumni and students and also serves as a teaching tool, to familiarize students with contemporary art exhibition practices. To this end, the institution attempts to retain a critical function in challenging the creative energies of students

The Gallery has regular exhibitions during the course of the academic year, September to May. While our primary activity is the hosting of exhibitions (juried, thematic, etc.), we also host activities that challenge the intellectual engagement and appreciation of the art object, including symposia and seminars (typically a panel discussion, artist talk or public lecture). Plans are now being made to widen our scope of activities even more so as to ensure that the wider mandate of the Edna Manley College is supported through our events.

Works may be available for sale, depending on the nature of the exhibition.

Exhibition proposals are welcomed and may be accepted if feasible and compatible with the CAG[e] objectives and programmes. Please direct such to cage.gallery@emc.edu.jm.
