“Mastering Independence through Displaced Separation”

I have been studying confrontation, consciousness and conditioning for the last decade in my work and how these ingredients affect our social structure system.

As human beings we act as primal creatures that set boundaries, in need to esteem control and establish a defined “ territory”.

We see this in contemporary America (as the prime example in my work) dealing with mass consumerism and over population.

Our need to own and empower ourselves grows feverishly as we fend to fight religious and government systems that have set heavy boundaries on the shoulders of the working class populace (the emphasis here is on the working‐middle class individual because the financially successful have liberties attained by wealth and the lower class falls completely victim to rules where as the middle class is continuously democratic zing but are held captive in a catch‐22 of versed rights, keeping the individual in a “box”).

Thus begins the need for one to separate in quest to find identity.

However instead of a communal approach, the reactionary conclusion is radically caustic.

Because I have opted to dismiss conventional art forms and use myself as the art vessel, tangible evidence of indescribable human behavior has erupted in my presence birthing an interesting new genre of performance art, where I the artist am observing social performance art being delivered as I simultaneously am “confronting” and conducting a repertory of conceptualized observation and
mimickery.

All of this, of course patterns itself as a live feed, of art coexisting with life at the same place, all the while worlds collide scientifically, mathematically and now technologically in a phenomena kaleidoscope of boxes and lines that separate and unite.

As an Artist who works with performance, choreography, installation, sculpture, photography, video and sound I play with the ideas of lines, boundaries, walls and separation and the predicaments we are faced with when “conscious” kicks in.

A series of per formative “conditioning” is seen in the work. Evolving the language into ritualistic actions.

The focus of the Art is the concept, process, action and progression. It doesn’t have a narrative, script or theatrical finale. Although the viewer expects a plot or conclusion he or she might have to be made aware that the work becomes infinite with no begging or end.

I will continue to explore the idea of the 3 C’s (confrontation, conditioning &
conscious) until I confide in my studies that all depth of the parameters cease to exist, which in turn will direct my path into a new concept.
