Mariojosé ANGELES, (1965) was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 1982, he starts studying architecture (University Autonomous of Santo Domingo) and after 3 years into the program, he decides to completely to studying painting. He held various collective and individual exhibitions in the Dominican Republic, starting in 1988. After his exhibition Iconos Caribe (1997) in the Archaeological Museum of Altos de Chavón, he was selected to participate in the Salon Grands et Jeunes d'Aujoud'hui in Paris. Since then, 1998 to 2007 he lived and worked in Brussels. He studied sculpture in the Academy of Fine Arts Jean Jacques Belliard, Brussels, Belgium, in 2000. In 2009 he presented Scientific Research Project Santa Cucaracha HIV/Aids Vaccine in FIART- First International Art-fire at Palace of Fine Arts, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In 2010 Exhibition elit-tile 2010, Fourth International Ceramic Tile Triennial, Centro León, Santiago, Dominican Republic. In 2010 presented Solo Exhibition Blue Dreams Quinta Dominica, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Mariojosé works simultaneously in various disciplines : painting, photography, installation, sculpture, digital art and graphic design. From 2000 to 2004, he was Cultural Attaché at the Embassy of the Dominican Republic with the Kingdom of Belgium, the Netherlands and the European Union. He lived for 9 years in Brussels and presented his work in important collective and individual exhibitions in various European countries. Now he lives and works in the Dominican Republic.
