Caribbean Literary and Cultural Studies - University of Miami

Caribbean Cultural Studies

The Caribbean Literary and Cultural Studies Program (CLCS) at the University of Miami is a well established institutional space for critical dialogues about art, literature and culture from the Caribbean and its Diaspora. Our on-line journal, Anthurium, (anthurium.miami.edu/home.htm), is an open access academic journal which serves as one medium for authors and critics to participate in these dialogues. Music. Memory. Resistance: Calypso and the Literary Imagination. We host international conferences bi-annually and have co-hosted conferences with the University of the West Indies, the Historical Museum of South Florida and will co-host the "Caribbean Diasporas: The Politics of Location in Caribbean Literature and Culture" with the Little Haiti Cultural Center. We are also actively involved in building digital platforms for artists to show their works and participate in critical dialogues about their process and producing cultural artifacts scholar.library.miami.edu/caribbeanvisual/.

Patricia Saunders and Sandra Paquet direct the program which was established 1994.
