Recognising the untapped potential as well as the constraints facing Jamaica’s creative industries, the Visual & Performing Arts Jamaica (VPAJ) was established in early 2008. Today, it has almost 330 members - individuals, small firms and other partner organisations - drawn from five creative industries, namely: Authors, Illustrators & Publishers, Dance, Film & TV, Theatre, Visual Arts, as well as the plethora of providers of goods and services to these industries. For many reasons, VPAJ is unique in Jamaica as well as the wider Caribbean.
VPAJ’s mission is to facilitate Jamaica’s creative industries to further develop their potential and fully exploit local, regional and international market opportunities. Embracing a wide range of creative professionals, it seeks to promote the success of its members’ enterprises and foster an environment of collaboration within and between their respective industries.
