ART ON THE RUN Jamaica

THE ART ON THE RUN PROJECT IS A COLLABORATION WITHIN THE CREATIVE ARTS

  • ROGUE -

    This design is created from aluminum,rubber,plastic,leathertte,rice bag,brown paper,wire and metal.

ART ON THE RUN IS AN ONGOING ARTS PROJECT WHICH COMMENCED IN 2009. THE AIM OF THE INITIATIVE IS TO:
- RAISE THE PROFILE OF THE ARTS AND THE CREATIVE INDUSTRIES WITHIN JAMAICA AND THE WIDER CARIBBEAN
- CREATE MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARTICIPATING ARTISTS
- GIVE EXPOSURE TO THE ARTS
- FOSTER A COLLABORATIVE SPIRIT WITHIN THE CREATIVE SECTOR
- CHALLENGE AND CHANGE THE PUBLICS PERCEPTION OF THE ARTS

THE INAUGURAL EVENT HAD TWO COMPONENTS:
1. THE WORK OF MORE THAN 40 ARTISTS WAS EXHIBITED IN A GALLERY SETTING, WHICH WAS CREATED AT CARIBBEAN FASHION WEEK (CFW). APPROXIMATELY 7,000 VISITORS TO THE EVENT WERE IMMERSED IN THE VISUAL ARTS OVER THREE DAYS.
2. EMERGING JAMAICAN ARTISTS AND FASHION DESIGNERS WERE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A DESIGN COMPETITION. WINNERS WERE AWARDED COVETED SPOTS AT CFW WHICH ALLOWED THEM TO SHOWCASE THEIR CREATIONS DURING THIS PREMIER CARIBBEAN FASHION EVENT.

ART ON THE RUN SEEKS TO EXPAND THE PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES WHICH WILL INCLUDE:
- TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT OF PARTICIPANTS
- GREATER EXPOSURE TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY AND KEY PLAYERS WITHIN THE CREATIVE SECTOR
- FOSTER GREATER LINKAGES BETWEEN THE CARIBBEAN’S CREATIVE INDUSTRIES
- CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE CREATIVE SECTOR
- CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE PUBLIC TO BECOME INVOLVED IN THE ARTS
