Claudia Hucke

Art Historian

Claudia Hucke is Senior Lecturer in Art History at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, Jamaica. Her research interests include 20th century art with a focus on postcolonialism and art and nation building, especially in the English-speaking Caribbean. A German national residing in Jamaica since 2003 and freelance curator, she is the author of “Beyond the National: Cross-Culturalism in the Art of the Jamaican Painter Karl Parboosingh.” Ed. Daive Dunkley. Breaking Ground: Readings in Caribbean History and Culture. Lanham: Lexington, 2011: 226-252. Her book Picturing the Postcolonial Nation: (Inter)Nationalism in the Art of Jamaica, 1962-1975 is forthcoming with Ian Randle Publishers, Kingston, in August 2012.
