I am a writer, performer, and teacher living between Oakland, California and Nassau, Bahamas. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies from Wesleyan University, a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Consciousness from New College of California, and currently teach at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and at the Bahamas Writers Summer Institute, in Nassau, Bahamas. I am the co-founder and co-director of BWSI and the founder and director of The Gaulin Project, a narrative storytelling program that believes in imagination as a source of power, and stories as a place of radical transformation and possibility. My first collection of short stories, The Lovers, is due out in March, 2013 by Calyx Press.
