Andrew Paul Smith

Photojournalist focusing on natural and cultural heritage

Andrew P. Smith is a freelance photographer in Kingston where he works for Reuters and teaches photography. He is a former photography editor of The Gleaner newspaper and a three-term past president of the Photography Club of Jamaica. Andrew holds a MA Photography from the University of Bolton, through its centre in Dalian, China and a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of the West Indies. Andrew has authored work in several publications including Jamaica: Absolutely (2010); Moods of Jamaica (2004); A Tapestry of Jamaica: The Best of SkyWritings (2003) and Insight Guide: Jamaica (2000). Among Andrew's awards are a highly commended award in the 2001 Commonwealth Photographic Competition and five awards in the 2003 Kodak Professional Caribbean Calendar Contest. Andrew participated in the 2009 Edna Manley College Faculty Show, the 2002 group exhibition, Private Thought, Public Spaces at the Mutual Gallery, Jamaica and in 2002 he participated in the Liquid Light photography exchange and exhibition between England’s East Midlands and Jamaica.
