As a faculty member at FAU, Elena Machado Sáez has taught surveys of American, Caribbean and US Latino/a literatures as well as more specialized courses on Caribbean Fabulist Fiction, Caribbean Historical Fiction, and US Latino/a Performance.
She has coauthored the book, The Latino/a Canon and the Emergence of Post-Sixties Literature (Palgrave Macmillan 2007) and her current book project focuses on contemporary historical fiction by Caribbean diasporic writers.
Machado Sáez has also published articles on Caribbean and US Latino/a literatures in journals such as Anthurium, Latino Studies, MELUS, Phoebe, Sargasso, and Small Axe. Some of her most recent publications include essays on literary critic Ilan Stavans and fiction writers Cristina Garcia, Andrea Levy, and Caryl Phillips.
