Michael Thompson

A Jamaican Artist and Visual Activist.

I am a Visual Artist who uses iconic imagery and design to influence and make a difference. My Posters and fine art is a platform to stir awareness and educate the viewer about the many cultural and social issues from around the world which I am passionate about. To support and project these issues on an international stage. This is very important to me; using my creativity for positive change and peace activism. My body of work continue to evolve to support many emerging, and important issues. Art should speak loudly and make an impact for those who pause for a moment to look and think. Art should not only make pretty statements, but also expose the struggles of the oppressed and the disenfranchised; my posters chronicle the environmental, economic and social divide that threaten the stability of the global community.

Reggae Poster Contest 2012

We have launched the First International Reggae Poster Contest 2012

The objective of the First International Reggae Poster Contest 2012 is to continue to build awareness for Reggae music and to celebrate the global achievements of Reggae and its positive impact on the world. The term Reggae encompasses all the popular Jamaican musical genres; Ska, Rocksteady, Roots Reggae, Dub, Dancehall and the unique Jamaican Sound System. The Poster competition is part of a bigger vision that seek to establish a Reggae Hall of Fame in Kingston, Jamaica.
