Marielle is a scholar, Visual artist, social entrepreneur and arts consultant. She is currently a Fulbright Scholar pursuing a Phd in Cultural Studies at George Mason University, focusing on media as a way of connecting artists from the Caribbean and developing Caribbean arts industries.
Marielle has served as Co-chair for Allspice - A Caribbean-American festival of the Arts and Humanities in Washington DC, hosted by the Institute of Caribbean Studies (Washington DC). She is Editor-in-Chief of the Caribbean InTransit Arts Journal and leads the Caribbean InTransit movement which organizes arts symposiums, art exhibitions and Arts for Social Change projects. Caribbean InTransit is the only open-access Arts journal with a focus on the Caribbean Arts. This network of academics, entrepreneurs and artists are from the Anglophone, Francophone, Hispanophone and Dutch Caribbean and Caribbean Diasporas. With her colleagues at George Mason Unviersity, Marielle has also started the Angelus Novus, Cultural Studies Journal and serves as Editor-in-Chief.
