Julio Montalvo is one of the great trombonist of the island of Cuba, began his career in the early '90s performing and recording with musicians and most prestigious producers in the country. His album Madre Tierra is dedicated to the memory of the great Cuban percussionist Miguel Angá. It’s a combination of Afro-Cuban rhythms mixed with new trends of modern jazz. Contains a mix of virtuosity, powerful rhythms, linked to moments of extreme tenderness that achieve an exquisite fusion, offering a warm spirit of Latin Jazz.,
In 1986 creates his first Latin Jazz band, SINTRANS debut at “The House of the Young Creator” in the Avenue of the port, current Museum of Ron and a year later presented for the first time in the Jazz Plaza Festival City of Havana, was invited to play in January 1987en primetime program of the National Television “Joven Joven” on the occasion to promote their performance at the Jazz Plaza, this year is invited by Master Bobby Carcasés for the two bands were playing two concerts at the National Theatre Hall Cobarrubias. He was invited with his band to play at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples alternating with the German band Lauter Blech. In 1988 he returned to play at the Jazz Plaza Festival in Havana. During this period, writes music for a theater group in the city of Santic Spiritus. In 1989 he returned to his band and Jazz Festival presented in the City of Santa Clara, and began her career as session musician in major recording studios in the country working for the major producers and artists from Cuba Island, also a member of different bands of high prestige in Cuba like Manguaré, Pachito Alonso and former Opus 13, Elite lead by singer Paulo Fernandez. In the middle of 1998 he was summoned to join an All Star for two concerts on the island and 12 in different European cities in a project called “Team Cuba” . mid-1998 desided to live in Spain where he has worked on recordings for more than 30 artists and played with artists as much pestigio Ximo Tebar, Claudio Roditi, David Pstore, Ramon Cardo, Argentina, M-Clan, David Bisbal, Manzanita gypsy singer and others. It accompanied with the Sedajazz Big Band to Pat Metheny and Perico Sambeat. it finishes producing a disc of Bolero-Feeling for a spanish singer Eugenia Sancho, Nights of feeling
