Charo Oquet, work spans painting to photography, performance to installation. Her work has been extensively exhibited internationally. As an art activist, in 1996, she founded “Miami Arts Collaborative”, which later became Edge Zones, founded in 2004 as a non-profit arts organization. In her role as director and curator Oquet took a leadership role in organizing numerous exhibitions which have featured Dominican and Miami artists internationally. As a publisher she has produced 5 books (please visit www.edgezonespress.org.) Oquet also serves the arts community as a grants panelist for the Miami-Dade Cultural Affairs Council and for the State of Florida grants.
She is the recipient of several fellowships and awards most recently: Florida State Artists Fellowship Award; the State of Florida Artists Enhancement Grant; South Florida Cultural Consortium 2005 Visual and Media Artists Fellowship Award.
She received a BFA from Florida International University.
