The Little Haiti Cultural Center, which finished construction in 2009, provides a space that brings together people and ideas to promote, showcase and support Afro-Caribbean culture in South Florida. LHCC is located in the heart of Little Haiti in downtown Miami.
In the year and a half that it has been in existence, the Little Haiti Cultural Center has become the heart of the community. A place where children come to learn about their culture, through a partnership with French Heritage, during summer school or after-school sessions; a place where the community can congregate and enjoy the art created by their children during art and dance classes; a place they can enjoy world class exhibits and travelling shows such as Global Caribbean, Delou Africa, Inc., Brazz Afro-Brazilian Dance Company, and the Contemporary Haitian Memory in Action Exhibit; a choice location for meetings and classes of all types including the Little Haiti Optimists and Arts for Learning.
Vice-President Biden has made the center his stomping ground when in Miami as has the French Ambassador.
In its short life-span, the Little Haiti Cultural Center has become an important and vibrant community center.
